Verifications are free of charge.

Requests for a verification containing directory information can be made via phone, fax, email, or in person. All other requests must be made in writing and bear the student's signature.
What information can be given out without my consent?
Any information considered by the University of Utah to be directory information can be given out without the consent of the student.
Please refer to the FERPA information page for additional information, including what qualifies as directory information.
Is there a way that I can block my directory information from being given out without my permission?
Yes. You can restrict other parties from accessing your directory information by logging into the Campus Information System and selecting "change release authorization" under "student records." You may also complete the form to restrict information at the Registration division, Student Services Building, second floor. Additional information regarding Student Privacy Rights is available online.
What do I need to get a verification in person?
Your picture ID.
How long does it take for a verification request to be processed?
Processing times for verification requests are within 3-5 business if made by phone, mail, or fax. Verification requests made in person are usually processed at the time of the request. Because of an increased volume of requests, processing times may be longer at the beginning and end of each semester.
