Below are some frequently asked questions and answers regarding the clearing process and posting of degrees.

How long will it take for my degree to post?
It will take up to 90 days from the end of the semester to award all degrees for a given term.

How will I know when my degree has been posted?
You will be sent an email once your degree has been awarded.
You can also check the status of your degree by logging into the Campus Information System and clicking on the “Personal Graduation Information” link in the Graduation box. If the “Status” still says “Applied” , the Graduation department has not yet been able to evaluate or award your degree. Your status will change to “Awarded” as soon as your degree is posted. At that point, the degree will show on your transcript. If you are deficient requirements, your status will change to “Denied” and you will be sent a letter explaining what you need.

Is there any way I can expedite the evaluation process? (I need my degree as soon as possible)
The graduation department is working as quickly as they can and are not able to evaluate students individually. You will need to wait until up to the beginning of August for your degree, but they could get to your evaluation at any time.

I received a letter saying I was denied for graduation…
The letter states the reason you were denied in bold near the top. If it was a General or Bachelor degree requirement, you will need to contact University College at 581-8146.   If you were denied by your major, minor or honors department, contact your department.

If you will need to complete additional work, you will need to change your graduation date.  At the bottom of the letter you received is a section you can fill out and send back to us to change your graduation date.

If you are a graduate student and your degree has not been posted or you have a question, contact your department or the Graduate School.

If you have a pressing question regarding the posting of your degree that was not covered in this section, you can contact the Graduation Division via e-mail:  Graduation@sa.utah.edu
