Bill is the Director of the International Center and has worked
in international programs and services at the University of Utah for
over 25 years.  Each year, Bill leads the staff of the International
Center in providing services for approximately 2,500
international students and providing study abroad opportunities
around the world for more than 500 University of Utah students.
He has traveled extensively around the world, but has not yet
had the fortune of traveling to sub-Saharan Africa, which he hopes
will be his next destination.

Marilyn Owen
Coordinator, International Student and Scholar Services

Marilyn advises international students on immigration matters and
she serves as the liaison between the University and USCIS.
She coordinates the University's J-1 Exchange Visitors Program
for exchange students and visiting researchers and professors.
Marilyn helps students with legal questions and academic advice.
She is serving on the State Board of International Educators.
She has been involved in international education for over 30 years.

Julie Scott
Office Manager

Julie has collaborated with the International Center for the past 12 years through her involvement as teacher, administrator, and friend of Internationals through Cross Culture Club and as the teacher for our Spousal English program (taught at the University Village) from 2000-2008. She taught at the English Language Institute from 2007-2009. While she has not (yet!) traveled abroad, she has a Vietnamese daughter-in-law, and her daughter and family plan to live and work in Papua New Guinea, so travel is in her future.

Making internationals feel welcomed and cared-for has always been Julie's passion, so when you come in the office, you will receive a warm greeting along with  help for your questions.

Mark works in the International Center as an Immigration Specialist where he advises students on school and immigration policies.  He has worked at the International Center for four years.  His duties include maintaining students records in the SEVIS system for Homeland Security and the US State Department.

Anjali Pai Hallett
Associate Director, International Programs and Services
Anjali has been part of The International Center since January 2004. Prior to this position, she lived and travelled extensively overseas. She completed her Master's Degree in the Educational Leadership & Policy Department from the University of Utah. Anjali’s oversees the human resource functions of The International Center and develops outreach programs with campus departments, community organizations, and businesses. She manages the International Alumni Program and assists with the growth and development of the International Leadership Academy. Anjali is serving in various leadership positions and continues to have a strong interest in issues of multiculturalism and leadership in higher education.

Jon Hansen
Clerk:International Student and Scholar Services

Jon works in the International Center in the afternoons helping international students with basic Immigration procedures (such as requesting documents, updating addresses etc.) He is also a student at the "U" majoring in Finance and Information Systems and is involved in the Business ASAP Program, Top Jobs Finance Honor Society, and ASUU Senior Council on campus. to  He enjoys running, biking, playing ultimate frisbee, skiing at Alta, and reading. Jon hopes to earn an MBA and run a marathon in the near future!

Jessica is a full time student majoring in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology. She works in 410 in the mornings helping international students.  Jessica lived in China and taught English for 4 months. In her free time she enjoys camping, traveling, running, and cooking. Her dream someday is to see the pyramids in Egypt and to go to Paris with her husband.

Cornelia Divricean

Cornelia is a full time student majoring in Economics and Nursing. She works part-time in The International Center and coordinates the Language Exchange Program.
Cornelia came from Romania few years ago with her husband and considers Utah as their home. She loves the city, the mountains, the weather and all the people.
So far she visited New York, Washington DC, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Miami, Los Angels and San Diego but her dream is to visit all the United States cities and after that the whole world.

Beng Lay Kou
Graduate Assistant: International Student and Scholar Services

Lay is a full-time student working on her masters program in Educational Leadership and Policy with a concentration in Student Affairs.  At the International Center, she helps with student programming and outreach activities.  Lay is originally from Singapore, but moved to Utah with her family a few years ago.  She has traveled to Canada, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, Macau and Hong Kong, and has visited 39 of the 50 states in the U.S.  She enjoys serving the international students and working with her fellow colleagues at the International Center.

Christoph Dressler
Sponsored Student Program

Christoph is our Sponsored Student Coordinator. He advises sponsored students on academic, campus and student life issues. He also acts as liaison between sponsoring organizations such as governmental entities and the University of Utah.  Christoph is a native German and has worked since 1999 in international student exchanges.  He is an avid skier, mountain biker and hiker and the majestic Wasatch Mountains cradling Salt Lake City are his playground.  Every now and then Christoph recharges his batteries in the incredible National Parks and Mounuments of Southern Utah and their solitude, desert environment.

Lorina graduated from the New York Law School in 2000. Before joining
the University in November 2003, Lorina worked in business
immigration and employment law firms in New York City, where she
focused on physicians and research scholars from a variety of
institutions across the country. Lorina also completed fellowships
in the Office of the New York Public Advocate, the Manhattan
Borough President's Office, and as a Consumer Advocate in
Washington D.C. Prior to attending law school, Lorina worked in
the Planned Giving area in the Development Office of the New York
Public Library.

As Associate General Counsel, Lorina provides regulatory oversight
on employment-based immigration matters. Lorina is located
in the Park Building, where she assists University faculty and staff
in the preparation and extension of H-1B1, TN, and O-1 visas,
advises J-1 physicians, and prepares and coordinates all
University sponsored applications for Lawful Permanent Resident
("green card") applications.

Kelly has been at the International Center since 2003 and enjoys
watching all the students depart and arrive to the U.S. 
She also really enjoys assisting in employment-based immigration
matters on behalf of the University. Kelly graduated from
the University of Utah with her B.A. degree in English in 2001. 
She lived in Costa Rica for nearly two years and has visited Mexico. 
If she could go anywhere is the world, she would go to Greece
(for the food!!) and the U.K.
