The University of Utah offers hundreds of options for semester or academic year study abroad programs.  You can take classes in English or totally integrated with native speakers.  If you choose an ISEP or U of U Exchange program you can pay U of U resident tuition and study at a foreign institution.

Once you have collected information about several programs, then it is time to meet with a study abroad advisor.  Schedule an appointment (581-5849) in advance so we will be ready for you.  The advisor's job is to explain the application, preparation, and pre-departure phase of your experience as well as answer any questions you may have.  Our advisors have visited many study abroad programs and can often give you valuable information not available on-line or in program brochures.

University of Utah Programs (Faculty-Led)

The University of Utah Department of Languages and Literature sponsors an Intensive Spanish Language program in Cuernavaca, Mexico.  Students on this program earn up to 16 U of U credits in Spanish.  The program is offered every other year in the Spring Semester and is scheduled to be offered again in Spring 2008.

As a participant in the International Semester: India program you will first take a course in Indian history on the U of U campus and optional courses in Indian religions and language. Then, you will travel to India where your classroom study will become a reality. Upon returning to campus, the remainder of your semester will be spent in follow-up coursework. The integration of coursework, travel, and service in India combine to make a meaningful educational experience.

Exchange Programs
The University of Utah has signed bi-lateral exchange agreements with over 20 foreign universities.  University of Utah students can study at an Exchange Program while paying U of U tuition and fees.  The programs are ideal for students who are very independent and seeking a high degree of cultural immersion.

International Student Exchange Program
Become an "ISEPer" . . . join the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP).  The University of Utah is a member of the International Student Exchange Program, which is a consortium of U.S. and international colleges and universities.  This program provides the opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to study abroad in one of over 100 foreign universities (ISEP member institutions) while paying U of U resident tuition, fees, room and board.

Affiliated Programs
The following organizations have signed institutional (or affiliation) agreements with the University of Utah and the Study Abroad Office.  Because of such agreements, we refer to these programs as Utah-Affiliated programs. They are all fully-accredited educational organizations that specialize in coordinating study abroad programs. These organizations offer study abroad, language, and/or internship programs all over the world! Please use the resource below as an introduction to our Utah-Affiliated programs.  All University of Utah students who apply to a Utah-Affiliated program must apply to that program through the Study Abroad Office (Union 159).  Federal financial aid may also be used for most of these programs.  Applications and hard copies of brochures are available in the Study Abroad Office.
