You speak English well enough to study in the U.S., but you want to learn more so that you can feel comfortable and confident while speaking or writing English. Or maybe you or a friend wants to learn English well enough to be able to study in a U.S. university. Here are some resources for you. English Language Institute: The University of Utah's English Language Institute has intensive classes and customized instruction. Their programs are designed for students who want to learn English or improve their skills. English as a Second Language: Each semester you can take ESL classes as a part of your regular university course work. These courses are taught by faculty of the Department of Linguistics. Conversation Classes: Each semester, the Cross Culture Club http://www.utah.edu/crosscultureclub/offers informal English conversation classes at various levels. Spousal English Program: The International Center and University Student Apartments sponsor an English conversation class for spouses of international students, scholars, and researchers. Tutoring: The University of Utah Tutoring Center offers tutoring in English and most University subjects. For University students ASUU pays some of the costs, making this option more affordable than others. Private tutoring for non-students is also available. |
