Housed in the Park Building, Lorina Tester is part of the Office of General Counsel. As Associate General Counsel, Lorina:
- Facilitates the hiring and retention of foreign nationals who contribute to the quality and diversity of the U;
- Applies for and approves employment-based immigration applications;
- Obtains dependent visa status for employees;
- Supervises and oversees procedures for sponsoring and hiring foreign nationals at the University;
- Provides campus-wide consistency in the handling of all employment-based immigration applications and issue all checks for USCIS fees;
- Limit the U’s liability from improper immigration practices on campus, and maintains Department of Labor and United States Citizen Immigration Services public disclosure files;
- Liaisons with the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Labor, and the Department of State;
- Provides legal advise on I-9 issues; and,
- Intervenes with U.S. Consulates abroad when international employees have travel/visa issues.
