One or two of the recommendations should be from individuals who can assess your academic performance. Send one application for each scholarship.

Students with financial need who have been enrolled in the University of Utah  art program at least one semester before the Spring portfolio review.  Preference given to those in Painting and Drawing.

Ballet Department

The Ballet Department offers partial tuition awards.  Partial tuition scholarships are granted to members of the Utah Ballet Company and character dance ensemble each year.  Students are selected for Utah Ballet membership and character dance ensemble after year-end practicum examinations, and in rare cases, after the entrance auditions.

Departmental scholarships may also be awarded at entrance to students, who are incoming freshmen and/or transfer students placing in the upper division technique levels.

A limited number of one-year tuition scholarships for up to 18 credit hours per semester are available in the name of Professor Emeritus William F. Christensen.  These are awarded to residents of the State of Utah, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

All scholarships awarded are for one year. Students will be considered for scholarship renewal during the spring practicum exams.

Conditions:

For initial awards and renewal of departmental scholarships include:

-  Potential for success in the profession.

-  Maintenance of a minimum cumulative GPA or 3.0 in high    school and in college.

-  Demonstration of improvement and acceptable progress

    in technique classes.

-  Participation in departmental activities and performances.

-  Completion of required courses within the designated year    and registration for a minimum of 12 credit hour per    semester.

-  Maintenance of good physical conditioning.

-  SAT/ACT test scores (for entering freshmen).
