The Department of Biology offers a small number of departmental scholarships to resident undergraduate biology majors. In general, these are one-year tuition awards.
Bioscience Undergraduate Research Program

Available to:
Current undergraduates who are selected to participate in the Bioscience Undergraduate Research Program. The two-year program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing laboratory research experience during undergraduate training. Students should apply at the end of their freshman or sophomore year.
Application:
A special program application is required. Only applications on the required form will be considered. Please see the Web site listed above regarding applications for the Training Program.
Value:
Participants receive a stipend each of the two years of the program. In addition, funding is available in the second year for laboratory research. Teaching assistantships are also available.
Number of Awards:
Up to 20. These awards may be held concurrently with any of the other scholarships offered by colleges and departments.

High School Research Award
Available to:
Outstanding graduating high school chemistry students, who will be majoring in chemistry.
Application:
Apply directly to the department of your major. $300 plus the opportunity to join a chemistry professor in collaborative laboratory research.

Outstanding chemistry major involved in undergraduate research as evidenced by professional publications or completion of an Honors Thesis.

American Chemical Society Award in Analytical Chemistry

Outstanding analytical chemistry students, who are completing their junior year will automatically be considered for the award.

An outstanding graduating senior in chemistry who has demonstrated leadership ability, good character, and high scholastic standing will automatically be considered for the award.

The Department of Mathematics offers several tuition waivers and departmental scholarships. Priority for one-year tuition waiver scholarships will be given to, transfer and continuing University of Utah resident undergraduate math students who are eligible for resident tuition. These students should obtain the application at http://www.math.utah.edu/ .
Exceptional high school students interested in a mathematics major are invited to apply. Please submit the University of Utah Application for Departmental Scholarships. The Department of Physics offers four one-year resident tuition scholarships. These are awarded to four students selected from entering freshman, sophomore and junior applicants. To receive a scholarship for more than one year, the applicant must reapply each year. Those receiving Honors at Entrance and Presidential Scholarships will not be considered for any of these four scholarships. Refer to the Scholarships Offered by Colleges and Departments heading at the beginning of this section for application instructions.
