The departments listed below offer a number of scholarships offered by colleges and departments. Refer to the Scholarships Offered by Colleges and Departments heading at the beginning of this section for application instructions. Most other scholarships are funded by industrial contributors and vary in amount and number of awards.
Josephine Beam Scholarship
Available to:
Continuing University of Utah students, matriculated in the College of Mines and Earth Sciences, who have financial need.
Application:
Contact the College of Mines and Earth Sciences or the Financial Aid Office for application materials. Submit all applications materials to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office and tthe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the Federal Processor. Both the application and the FAFSA must be submitted by February 15.

The Department of Geology and Geophysics offers a number of departmental scholarships to continuing University of Utah students majoring in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, and environmental earth science.
Available to:
Declared majors in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. Students must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework related to the major.
Application:
Entering freshmen, please use the Application for General (Freshman) Scholarships and transfer students please use the Application for Transfer Student Scholarships. Transfer and continuing students may use the scholarship application form found on the Geology and Geophysics website, http://www.mines.utah.edu/geo (undergraduate forms). Transfer students, please attach a copy of your transcripts. Please note that there is no need to apply for a specific scholarship; one application will cover all.

All geology and geophysics students with a 3.0 cumulative GPA received scholarships during the last four years.
