Groups
Introduction
A variety of groups are offered in both time-limited and on-going formats and are often the treatment of choice for many issues. General therapy groups are for those who will benefit from sharing experiences, giving and receiving support/feedback, and experimenting with new interpersonal behaviors in a safe environment. Because common experiences of members can enhance a group's effectiveness, the Counseling Center also offers a variety of theme groups. Group therapy is a unique opportunity to experience a type of therapy that cannot be found in many mental health settings. Please call (581-6826) or stop by to learn about our current groups.
Those interested in group counseling will meet with a staff counselor to assess the match between individual needs and available groups. No set limit exists on the number of group sessions in which a person may participate. Cost for these groups is minimal ($5 for students and $10 for faculty/staff). All groups are confidential.
