David McCullough

Acclaimed author, Pulitzer Prize winner, National Book Award and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient David McCullough will deliver the commencement address on Friday, May 8th, 2009 at 9am in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. McCullough was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Yale University, earning a degree in English literature and published his first book, The Johnstown Flood, in 1968. McCullough's most recent book, 1776, was a New York Times national bestseller. |
His other works include The Great Bridge, The Path Between the Seas, Mornings on Horseback, Brave Companions, Truman, and John Adams. McCullough's next work, about Americans in Paris between 1830-1930, is due out in 2010. Recently John Adams was adapted into a seven-part HBO mini series. His book Truman was also adapted into an HBO movie. He is also noted for hosting PBS's award winning American Experience program from 1988-1999. His works have been published in ten languages, and over nine million copies have been printed. None of Mccullough's books have gone out of print since publishing. |
