Fellowships and Scholarships

The Bennion Center offers several opportunities for significant financial support, made possible by the generosity of the Tanner and Lindquist families and the Alumni Association.

Applications for the fellowship and scholarship opportunities are due February 15.  Applications are also available at the Bennion Center, University Union Room 101.  Return completed applications to Brent in the Bennion Center.

The Barbara L. Tanner Community Service Fellowship

Established in 1997 through a generous gift by the Tanner family, the Barbara L. Tanner Community Service Fellowship is awarded to a University of Utah graduate with extensive community leadership experience. The fellowship is co-sponsored by the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs and the Women's Resource Center. The selected fellow will engage in a year of full-time community service while meeting a critical community need. Fellows are provided $20,000 to carry out objectives which benefit the community. · Open to graduating students · $20,000 living stipend · Full year commitment to service at an agency in Utah.  Applications can be downloaded here and are due February 15.

The Telitha Ellis Lindquist Community Service Scholarship

The Lindquist Scholarship offers an upper-division student with extensive community service experience the opportunity to receive financial support towards completing degree requirements at the University of Utah while devoting significant time and initiative to service and leadership through the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center. This scholarship offers $3,500 per semester during the 2008-09 academic year, covering the approximate cost of tuition, books and fees. * Open to non-graduating students * $7,000 total scholarship award * Must maintain significant involvement in community service * Must be a junior or senior in standing to apply. The Alumni Association/Bennion Center Summer Community Service Fellowships

The Alumni/Bennion Fellowship offers students who have demonstrated substantial service leadership a ten-week, full-time community service placement with a non-profit organization outside of Northern Utah. The selected fellows will arrange for their own placement logistics with help from the Bennion Center and the Alumni Association.  Summer Fellows are expected to return for a year of leadership in the Bennion Center to share their experiences with other student leaders. The Bennion Center and the Alumni Association together provide a $4,000 stipend for room/board and other expenses.  In addition, the Alumni Association will provide a $1000 scholarship for the Fall 2008 semester upon successful completion of the ten-week service placement.  Applications can be downloaded here and are due February 15.
