As a new transfer student, you will be enrolled in University College until you are admitted to a major.
As a transfer student, it is especially important that you take advantage of the resources offered through University College and your major department. You need to take the initiative for contacting and maintaining a working relationship with your advisor. You may want to do this even before you begin at the University of Utah as there may be some specific general education and major pre-requisites you need to consider.
Even before you transfer to the University of Utah there are actions you can take to enhance your success.
Know the APPLICATION procedures and deadlines for:
Attend an ORIENTATION (801.581.7069) where you will:
Learn about academic requirements and programs for new students
Gain awareness of opportunities on campus
Plan a course schedule and register for classes
Get a student ID, parking pass, etc.
Look into special ACADEMIC PROGRAMS such as:
Honors: The Honors Program offers promising and highly motivated undergraduate students a special curriculum of classes, seminars, tutorials, and workshops that foster close relationships among faculty and students (581.7383)
Career and Life Planning: EdPsy 2610
TIG (Transfer Interest Group): These programs are designed especially for transfer students. Each option includes a UGS 3000 course on Success Through Academic Resources and Technology. To learn more call 581.3811.

Transfer Center advisors provide:
Assistance to undeclared students in exploring academic options and identifying majors
Understanding and guidance with University Graduation Requirements
Help with prerequisite courses for admission to your major
