Admission Criteria: The pharmacy curriculum is divided into approximately 75 semester hours of pre-professional curriculum followed by four years of professional curriculum.  Before admission to professional study, students must complete the pre-professional core courses listed below and most general education requirements.  Applications to the professional program are available in October on-line at www.pharmcas.org or www.pharmacy.utah.edu.  Applications are due in early January.  Students are admitted for Fall semester only.  Admission is highly competitive with 60 students from up to 200 applicants.  A cumulative GPA of 2.75 in the required pre-professional core courses is necessary to be considered for admission.  Historically, the average GPA of those accepted is a 3.5.  Also expected of an applicant is pharmacy experience, community service, and demonstrated leadership.  To be considered for admission, applicants whose first language is not English must receive a minimum composite score of 61 on the TOEFL iBT and a minimum score of 25 on the speaking component of the test.  Students applying must also take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) with a composite score of 65% or better.  The average composite of those accepted has been the 87-90% for the past few years.  Information regarding the PCAT may be obtained from the University of Utah Testing Center, 801-581-8744 or the website is www.PCATweb.info.
