SECOND BACHELOR'S DEGREE STUDENTS
Students who have completed a recognized bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution may apply for a second bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah. The prior degree will clear lower division General Education Requirements with the exception of American Institutions, Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning. If a course fulfilling one of these requirements was taken as part of the original degree, the requirement will also be cleared. The student must meet the course requirements in the declared major as well as the Bachelor’s Degree Requirements of the university.
Students are not eligible to pursue a Second Bachelor’s Degree within the same program from which they previously graduated. For example, a student may not have a Marketing bachelor’s degree and apply for the Accounting bachelor’s degree.
The courses taken during the first bachelor’s degree are not transferred individually to the University of Utah or posted to the official University of Utah transcript. However, a student may use some of the courses to complete prerequisites required in the second degree. In order to determine what courses a student will need to complete, the student should take a copy of the transcript(s) to the department of the major for review.
ADMISSION STANDARDS FOR SECOND BACHELOR'S DEGREE STUDENTS
