Available Scholarships
Students may apply for any of the below scholarships through the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office by completing the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) , the Institutional Application for Financial Aid (UFORM), and the Application for Scholarships Based on Financial Need. Students must list the specific scholarships for which they want to be considered, otherwise students will be considered for any available.
All scholarships are awarded for one year only, but students may reapply each year.
Olga V. Alexandria (Logan) Scholarship
Available to:
Women majoring in ballet, theatre, business, law, or medicine who have financial need.
Application:
Apply to the applicable department before March 15. Names are submitted to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for further consideration. Josephine Beam Scholarship
Available to:
Students matriculated in the College of Engineering or the College of Mines and Earth Sciences who have financial need.

Ann M. Cannon Memorial Scholarship
Available to:
Students matriculated in the College of Fine Arts, with preference given to students of painting and drawing.

Available to:
Students majoring in engineering, geology, geophysics, one of the other physical sciences, or business.

Madelyn S. Silver Scholarship
Available to:
Students with high academic achievement who are able to demonstrate a substantial interest in literature, preferably Biblical literature.
Application:
Submit an online online-essay describing your commitment to literature. Also, submit the online Application for Scholarships Based on Financial Need to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office before March 15. The FAFSA is not required.

Diane D. Tempest Memorial Scholarship
Available to:
Deserving female students in need of financial assistance, who meet the University's definition of nontraditional student. Applicants must be at least 35 years of age and be raising (or must have raised) a family.

Legacy of Learning Scholarship

Spouse or natural/adopted child of a worker killed in a compensable industrial accident during the course or scope of employment with an employer insured by the Workers Compensation Fund.

Contact the Workers Compensation Fund for the student application and submit with high school or college transcript showing GPA and ACT/SAT scores and two letters of recommendation by July 1.

Scholarship for Descendents of Disabled Miners
Available to:
Children and/or grandchildren of disabled miners.
Application:
Applications are available on the Web. Please fill out an Application for Scholarships Based on Financial Need located on the U of U Scholarship Web site under Printable Application. Please indicate "Miners Scholarship" on the line provided for that purpose.
In addition to the scholarship application, please submit a statement ("To Whom it May Concern..."), in which mention is made of the name of the relative who worked in the Utah mining industry, and the circumstance of his disabling injury, illness or disability that resulted due to the person's work as a miner.

Four-year scholarship, which covers tuition and books, no fees.
Number of Awards:
Two. One scholarship is offered through the College of Nursing or the College of Health in a field related to the health care of miners (i.e. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, etc.) The second scholarship will be available for study in any of the other colleges at the University of Utah.

Matriculated freshman or transfer students, who on account of their geographical, ethnic, or cultural background will contribute to an educationally diverse environment at the University of Utah.
